This news comes as a significant blow to the Manchester Originals, who have struggled in his absence. The team will now seek a replacement to bolster their squad. Buttler's last competitive appearance was during the T20 World Cup 2024. He had taken a short break following the tournament before the start of The Hundred.
Jos Buttler Shares Disappointment
Jos Buttler took to Instagram to confirm his withdrawal from The Hundred. The England captain expressed his deep disappointment at missing the tournament but wished his Manchester Originals teammates the best of luck. Despite the setback, Buttler remains determined to fully recover and return to action as soon as possible.

Jos Buttler's Injury Woes Continue
England captain Jos Buttler has a history of calf injuries. Two years ago, a calf strain sidelined him from a seven-match T20I series against Pakistan and threatened his participation in the T20 World Cup.
Unfortunately, Buttler has suffered another calf injury, forcing him to withdraw from the current Hundred tournament. His absence has been keenly felt by the Manchester Originals, who have struggled to find their footing, suffering defeats in their opening three matches. The team has appointed Phil Salt as captain in Buttler's stead.

Phil Salt, appointed as captain in Jos Buttler's absence, has struggled both as a leader and a batsman, managing just 23 runs so far. The team's coaching staff, led by Simon Katich, had identified Keaton Jennings as a potential replacement for Buttler. However, due to uncertainty surrounding Buttler's injury, Jennings signed with the London Spirit, leaving the Originals without a suitable replacement.
