Yograv Singh made a big revelation about ex-Indioa selectors

Yograj Singh blamed the selection committee for destroying the careers of 7 Indian players

Following India's triumph of the 2011 ODI World Cup, the team went through a transitional period which saw their form deplete especially in Test cricket. The Men in Blue got whitewashed 0-4 in away series against both England and Australia and those defeats saw many players get dropped from the team as a whole. Most of these players weren't able to make a comeback to the team with the selectors preferring youngsters over them.

Yograj lashes out at Mohinder Amarnath

Years after that episode, former India cricketer Yograj Singh has now made a big revelation about it and has also brutally criticized Mohinder Amarnath, who was a key figure in the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) selection commitee during that time.

"You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011," Yograj told InsideSport.

"You just destroyed the team after the 2011 World Cup. The careers of 7 players were put into the gutter. That is why were struggling," he added.

The likes of Zaheer, Gambhir, Harbhajan and Yuvraj were phased out from the Test set-up following the humilating defeats to England and Australia. They also weren't anywhere to be seen in India's squad for 2015 ODI World Cup despite having played major roles in their triumph in the previous edition of the tournament. This period also saw both Laxman and Dravid announce their retirements from international cricket.

Yograj, who is the father of Yuvraj Singh, called out Amarnath for mishandling the careers of several greats of Indian cricket. He also revealed that Amarnath wanted to sack MS Dhoni as the captain of the side back then.

"We lost five series when MS Dhoni was the captain and he was told he would be replaced by Mohinder Amarnath, but that's not the way to do it," Yograj stated.

Amarnath's tenure in the BCCI selection committee came to an end after just one year as the side failed to improve their results in red-ball cricket.
