Cricket, a sport deeply rooted in tradition, often pays homage to its top players with the 'Man of the Match' or 'Player of the Match' awards. Beyond the standard trophies and cash prizes, like the IPL's Rs 1,00,000 per match, cricket has seen its fair share of unconventional awards ranging from household gadgets to plots of land.

In a humorous twist, the Dhaka Premier League gifted English all-rounder Luke Wright with a blender after a superb performance, while another player was treated to a rice cooker for his on-field prowess. An event in Palghar, Maharashtra, saw the winning team walk away with a goat, while the runners-up took home five roosters.

Highlighting five such peculiar awards:

ELECTRIC BLENDER: Luke Wright's impressive on-field display earned him a blender as an award. Sharing his surprise on Twitter, Wright posted, "I'm happy to say that we won my first match for Abhanai today. I've never been given a blender for MoM before."

RICE COOKER: Known for his explosive batting, Eoin Morgan's heroics in the Dhaka Premier League were rewarded with a rice cooker. Initially thinking it symbolized his 'under pressure' performances, Morgan soon realized the cooker brand was a sponsor.

SNACK HAMPERS: The Caribbean Premier League's sponsorship by Sunshine Snacks led to 'Player of the Match' awardees receiving hampers filled with chips and nuts. Considering modern cricket's fitness standards, the idea of gifting oily snacks raised eyebrows, and images of players with these hampers swiftly gained attention online.

LAND PLOT: Sherfane Rutherford's exceptional performance in the Global T20 Canada 2023 not only crowned him as the 'Player of the Tournament' but also earned him a half-acre land plot in the U.S. Rutherford, after accumulating 220 runs in eight innings, was taken aback by this extraordinary prize.

BISCUIT TROPHY: In 2018, after defeating Australia 3-0 in the UAE, Pakistan was handed one of cricket's most unique trophies - shaped like a biscuit. Sponsored by TUC, a Belgian biscuit company, this trophy was a creative leap, albeit a tad unconventional.

These unusual awards serve as light-hearted reminders of the sport's ability to surprise and entertain, both on and off the field.
