India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has filed a criminal complaint against her UP Warriorz teammate, Arushi Goel. Deepti Sharma has accused Goel of committing fraud exceeding Rs 25 lakh. Moreover, she alleges that Arushi Goel stole cash, jewelry, and foreign currency totaling Rs 2 lakh from her residence in Agra. They've been teammates for the UP Warriorz and have also played together in domestic cricket. Goel is currently posted at Agra Cantt Railway Station.

Deepti Sharma accuses Arushi Goel of big fraud

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed by Deepti Sharma's brother, Sumit Sharma, at the Sadar police station in Agra. The complaint charges Arushi Goel with various offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including theft, housebreaking, criminal breach of trust, and insult.

“The two cricketers became close over the years through their association in the same team. Then, Arushi and her parents started exploiting Deepti financially, citing family emergencies and financial distress," the FIR stated.

“Deepti’s brother, Sumit Sharma, approached the Sadar police station with the complaint. Prima facie, we found some truth in the complaint and filed an FIR under BNS Sections 305 (a) (theft), 331 (3) (house breaking), 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust) and 352 (insulting someone with the intent to provoke a breach of peace)," ACP Agra Sadar Sukanya Sharma was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Meanwhile, Arushi Goel has denied the accusations leveled against her. She stated that she shares family ties with Deepti Sharma and that any financial transactions between them were consensual. Goel also expressed her desire to discuss the matter directly with Deepti to clarify the situation.

“I have family relations with Deepti. If there has been any transaction, it must have been done with mutual consent. I want to talk to Deepti face-to-face on all the allegations. My image is being maligned in the media,” she told the media.

Arushi Goel recently played in the Senior Women's Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy, representing the Central Zone, where she scored 74 runs in her single appearance. She also participated in the England A women’s tour of India, accumulating 46 runs across three matches with an average of 23. Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma's brother, Sumit Sharma, disclosed that his sister lost over ₹25 lakh across a two-year period. He further stated that Arushi refused to repay the money when Deepti inquired about it.

“My sister lost over Rs 25 lakh in the two years. When she confronted Arushi, the latter refused to return the amount. The incident has caused significant distress to Deepti, who is at the moment preoccupied with her training commitments and is preparing for the Team India camp in Bengaluru ahead of the England tour," Sumit said.

Team India is set to host England for a series of white-ball matches. The tour will feature five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs). The action is scheduled to start on Saturday, June 28, with the first match taking place at Trent Bridge.
