Stuart Law has been appointed as the USA team’s head coach ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The T20 World Cup will be held in June and co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.

Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law has been named as head coach of the USA team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will kick off in June. Stuart Law has represented his country in over 50 matches. He was also part of the 1996 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup runner-up team.

 

Stuart Law retired from international cricket in the early 2000s and has built an impressive coaching resume. He has since served as head coach for national teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the West Indies. Apart from this, he has also worked with Afghanistan and Bangladesh’s Under-19 teams. In 2012, he led Bangladesh to their first Asia Cup final.

 

'It is an exciting opportunity to join USA cricket at this time'

 

Now, he is excited to lead the USA team during the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and West Indies.  

 

"It is an exciting opportunity to join USA cricket at this time. USA is one of the strongest Associate nations in the sport, and I believe that we can mold a formidable squad going ahead," Law said while speaking to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

 

"The first task will be to prepare the team for the series against Bangladesh and then set our sights on our home World Cup, which will be huge,” he added.

He brings a lot of experience to USA Cricket: USA Cricket chairman

 

USA Cricket chairman Venu Pisike believes that he can lead the team as he has a lot of experience.

 

"Stuart is one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport. He brings a lot of experience to USA Cricket with his varied assignments, particularly in developing international sides over the years," USA Cricket chairman Venu Pisike said.

 

"His appointment will only help the team grow to their full potential. We are excited to have Stuart on board just before the World Cup and look forward to lots of successes together," he added.

 

Notably, the USA are set to face Canada in the T20 World Cup opener in Texas on June 1.
