An ex-cricketer has a piece of advice for rising star Vabihav Sooryavanshi after Ishan Kishan shone at the Duleep Trophy Final following a historic double century. Vivek Razdan has called on the teenage batter to take a leaf out of Ishan Kishan’s book after the East Zone opener’s brief but rapid contribution in the Duleep Trophy final.

Speaking during East Zone’s dominant first innings against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Razdan praised Kishan’s marathon knock of 270 off 334 balls, which featured 30 fours and seven sixes.

The innings helped East Zone post a massive 708, the third time a side has crossed 700 in first-class cricket at Chepauk. Sooryavanshi, opening the batting, made a brisk 44 off just 37 deliveries before being dismissed.
Razdan’s message was clear as he urged for explosive starts, which he thinks are valuable, but converting them into substantial scores, as Kishan demonstrated with technique, temperament and fitness in the heat, is what sets players apart at higher levels. The former India fast bowler, during the commentary, said:
"Sooryavanshi sahab, now you have to learn from players like Ishan Kishan.”
Razdan added:
“Once you are set, you have to learn how to play a long innings.”
Kishan’s double century ranks among the highest individual scores in Duleep Trophy history. The display has once again underlined the importance of longevity and match awareness for young Indian prospects aiming to progress.
Following his double century, Ishan Kishan has now joined the elite list of batters. Ishan Kishan is the only seventh batter in the history of the tournament to score a double century, alongside being the second-highest individual score for East Zone. He is also the only second captain in the tournament’s history to score a double century.
