India all-rounder Deepti Sharma was among the top performers for the side as they went on to script history and won their maiden ODI World Cup title. She went on to contribute massively in both the batting and bowling departments, scoring 251 runs and picking up 22 wickets. The 28-year-old was even picked in ICC's Team of the Topurnament for her brilliant all-round effort in the tournament.

Deepti had saved her best performance of the competition for the final as not only did she play a valiant knock of 58, but played a key role in South Africa not reaching the target of 299 by racking up five scalps. She was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament during the post-match ceremony. Following the victory, the Indian team met PM Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi. He personally congratulated the team for their memorable triumph.
In an exclusive chat with Sports Tak, Deepti reflected on the team's World Cup triumph and also opened up on their meeting with the Prime Minister and President Droupadi Murmu.
"It's really great that we finally won the World Cup it was long journey what with pure dedication. We were just thinking that its our time and we have to do it. Meeting with PM and president is an absolute honor he knew everything about us he also talked about the lord hanuman and my insta post," Deepti said exclusively to Sports Tak.
Deepti further went on to credit ICC Chairman Jay Shah and BCCI for the promotion of women's cricket and feels that the team's triumph in the Women's World Cup will be a turning point for women's cricket in the country.
"BCCI and Jay Shah have helped q lot to promote women's cricket i want to thanks everyone. Harman our captain is very open she gives freedom to us and that's great this win will definitely change the scenario of women's cricket in coming days," Deepti added.
