Babar Azam is currently going through a rough patch in his career.

Virat Kohli failed to perfrom in two Test matches against New Zealand.

Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas backed Virat Kohli after his poor performance in the recent Test outings against Bangladesh and New Zealand. The former India captain just scored 76 runs in two Test matches against Bangladesh and he just scored 88 runs in two clashes against New Zealand. The 36-year-old batter just scored 187 runs in seven innings.

In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Zaheer Abbas said that Kohli is currently the best player in the world and there is no comparison of Kohli and Pakistan star batter Babar Azam.

"Kohli is a much better player than anybody at the moment in the world. Okay. If you look at his performance and all that, if he's not scoring runs for a few matches, it's okay. But don't compare with the other guy (Babar Azam)" Zaheer Abbas told Sports Tak.

Kohli who was seen struggling against the spin since 2021 got out by a spinner 19 times in 22 Test innings. While asked about his struggle, Zaheer was confident that modern-day great would come out of this as soon as possible.

"I think sometimes a great player can go through a lean period and I think Kohli can come out of this problem as soon as possible" added Zaheer Abbas.

India already lost the three-Test match series against New Zealand 2-0 and now the third match will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from November 1-4. This Test match will be important for India considering the points table for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

After finishing the Test series, India will travel to Australia for the five-Test match series scheduled to start from November 22. Team India already announced their squad for the tour where Rohit Sharma will lead the side and Jasprit Bumrah will be his deputy. This will be India's first Test series in Australia under Rohit's captaincy. The Men in Blue have won the past two editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 and now they will look to win a hat trick to seal their spot for the WTC Final which will be played in June next year.
