The Indian Team management including head coach Gautam Gambhir has come under strict scrutiny following their disappointing show in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025. Australia ended up winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 title after thrashing India by six wickets in the Sydney Test. With this Pat Cummins-led Australia pocketed the five-match series 3-1.
Meanwhile, former India's star batter Manoj Tiwary has unleased a scathing attack on Gautam Gambhir after Men in Blue's shoddy performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Manoj Tiwary went on to label Gautam Gambhir, 'hypocrite, stating that the India coach doesn’t do what he says.

The series loss against Australia not only ended India's dominance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which they lost after a decade, but also dashed their World Test Championship (WTC) final hopes. This was the same team, who made it to the WTC final in the previous two editions. Notably, Australia will now lock horns with South Africa in the WTC 2023-2025 final which is scheduled to be held in June 11 at Lord's. Manoj Tiwary not only slammed Gambhir but also India's bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.
“What is the use of a bowling coach? Whatever the coach says he will agree. Morne Morkel came from Lucknow Super Giants. Abhishek Nayar was at Kolkata Knight Riders with Gambhir and the Indian head coach has a comfort zone with him,” Tiwary told News18 Bangla.
“Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says. The captain is from Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar is from Mumbai. Rohit has been pushed to the forefront by them to deal with all the issues,” Tiwary further stated.
This was India's third series defeat after Gambhir took over the head coach mantle from Rahul Dravid after T20 World Cup 2024. India lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka and then suffered a 0-3 Test series sweep against New Zealand. And the latest series loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy only added to India's woes specially with Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner.
Gambhir's former Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) teammate also hinted at evident cracks between the head coach and captain Rohit Sharma. He also said that Gambhir took away all the credit for KKR's title triumph in the IPL 2024.
“How will they work together? Rohit is a World Cup-winning captain While Gambhir led KKR to IPL titles both as a captain and mentor. Gambhir didn’t guide KKR to the title single-handedly as we all performed as a unit. Jacques Kallis, Sunil Narine and I, all contributed to the cause. But who took the credit?” Tiwary concluded.
