Gujarat Titans reportedly decline Washington Sundar trade with CSK

CSK totally focused on their pursuit of Sanju Samson

With the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) focused on the trade deal between Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja, their talks  to bring in Washington Sundar from Gujarat Titans (GT) have reportedly collapsed. According to a report by The Indian Express, the Gujarat-based franchise have declined CSK's offer for the Indian all-rounder as they expect him to be an important player going forward.

CSK had been targeting Sundar for quite some time and he could have been a highly important player for the team in the upcoming season with Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from IPL while Jadeja can very well be on his way to the Rajasthan Royals. Noor Ahmad and Shreyas Gopal are the only two spin options that they have in the side as of current. The Chennai-based franchise has been known to invest heavily in spinners and with the Sundar trade now off, it remains to be seen who will they be going after in the IPL 2026 auction.

GT had signed Sundar last year

Notably, GT had signed Sundar for a fee of INR 3.2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. The all-rounder wasn't given many chances during the campaign as he only played six matches, scoring 133 runs and taking two wickets. However, Sundar's stocks have risen rapidly now as he has become an all-form player for India. He recently featured for the team in both the ODI and T20I series against Australia.

Sundar's heroics against Australia

Sundar played a key role in India's victory in the third T20I and did so by playing a fabulous unbeaten knock of 49 runs. He then went on to contribute massively with the ball in the fourth match and recorded figures of 3/3 as the Men in Blue defeated Australia by 48 runs. Seeing his fine performance in both the batting and bowling departments, it is not a    su rprise that GT want to keep him in the team.

Meanwhile, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo, it is likely that the Samson-Jadeja trade will go through in the coming days. While Samson has been with the Rajasthan-based franchise for eight seasons, Jadeja has spent a total of 12 seasons with CSK. It remainjs to be seen if the deal will be done and dusted before retentions for the next season are announced on  November 15.
