India's Test specialist Hanuma Vihari, Bengal skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran and five other Indian cricketers will feature in the ongoing season of Dhaka Premier League (DPL). All the seven cricketers were not picked in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction. The other five cricketers are Parvez Rasool, Baba Aparajith, Ashok Menaria, Chirag Jani and Gurinder Singh.
Vihari is the only cricketer in the list who has been playing international cricket of late. The Andhra Pradesh-born batter will play for Abahani Limited later this week. The new no.3 of Indian cricket will not be available for Abahani Limited's first three games. He recently scored 124 runs from three innings against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded two-Test series. In his absence, Afghanistan's Najibullah Zadran will play for the club.
Rasool, Aparajith, Menaria, Jani and Gurinder will play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, Rupganj Tigers, Khelaghar, Legends of Rupganj and Gazi Group of Cricketers in the 11-team List A tournament.
Among the seven, Vihari, Aparajith, Maneria and Rasool have played in Bangladesh's domestic tournament before as well.
Indian players’ performances in DPL so far
Easwaran is already a part of Prime Bank Cricket Club's XI. He scored 30 runs from 38 deliveries against City Club in his first appearance of the season in the One-Day tournament.
"It gives me an opportunity to play more games and face different types of quality bowling attack," Easwaran said after his club’s 50-run win on March 15.
Aprajith has also made his first appearance in the season. He scored 11 runs from 26 deliveries in Rupganj Tigers' run chase against Abahani Limited.
Jani contributed well for Legends of Rupganj as he scored 47 runs from 44 deliveries including three fours and two sixes. His knock helped Legends score 291/7. In reply, Gazi Group Cricketers were bundled out for 144.
