Vidarbha defeats Rest of India in Irani Cup 2025 final.

Vidarbha defeated the Rest of India by 93 runs to win the Irani Cup 2025 final. Chasing a challenging target of 361 runs on the final day,  Rajat Patidar-led Rest of India were bowled out for 267, despite a fighting 92 by Yash Dhull and a resilient unbeaten 56 from Manav Suthar.

With this win, Vidarbha lifted the Irani Cup for the third time, following their previous victories in 2018 and 2019. Remarkably, all three of their Irani Cup titles have come after Ranji Trophy triumphs, making them one of the most consistent teams in Indian domestic cricket in recent years.

Rest of India’s Batting Collapses on Final Day

Resuming Day 5 at 30/2, Rest of India faced early setbacks. Captain Rajat Patidar was dismissed for 10 by Aditya Thackeray, while Ruturaj Gaikwad managed only 7 before falling to Darshan Nalkande. Ishan Kishan tried to steady the innings with a patient 35 off 65 balls (3 fours) but was sent back by Harsh Dubey, leaving the score at 80/5.

Yash Dhull and Manav Suthar Fight Back

Yash Dhull and Saransh Jain added 53 runs for the sixth wicket, taking the score past 100. Jain was dismissed for 29 by Parth Rekhade, but Dhull then found solid support in Manav Suthar. The pair shared a crucial 104-run partnership, reviving hopes of an unlikely chase.

Dhull batted fluently for his 92 off 117 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and a six before falling, triggering another collapse. Rest of India lost their last four wickets for just 30 runs. Suthar remained unbeaten on 56 (4 fours, 1 six), but the rest of the lower order couldn't resist the pressure.

Vidarbha's Bowling Performance Seals the Deal

Harsh Dubey was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 4 wickets in the second innings. Aditya Thackeray and Yash Thakur chipped in with 2 wickets each, while Darshan Nalkande and Parth Rekhade picked one apiece.
