Manprit Juneja highlighted Jasprit Bumrah's mental resilience

Juneja likened Bumrah to Roger Federer

Manprit Juneja, who was Jasprit Bumrah's teammate during their time with the Gujarat team, feels that the latter is mentally resilient and that is why he manages to comeback strong whenever he faces a setback. Bumrah is undoubtedly one of the finest bowlers in the world as of current and has carried the side to victory on multiple occasions across the three formats.

“Like I said, he is strong mentally. Whenever he is down, he always wants to comeback stronger. That’s how he was when he started and that’s how he is now," Juneja said.

Bumrah compared to Federer

Juneja further went on to compare Bumrah to Tennis legend Roger Federer while pointing out how both of them continued to perform brilliantly in their respective fields even after crossing the age of 30. He further highlighted how difficult it is especially for a seamer to play in all the three formats after a certain point.

“For me, he is like what Roger Federer was to tennis after he turned 30. He showed he can win titles at 36. And people forget it is not easy for a fast bowler to play all three formats at 32," Juneja stated.

Moreover, Juneja stated that Bumrah is a matured individual who will always put the team before him in any situation.

“If you got to play long, you have to be smart and understand your body. When someone does it, I don’t understand what the problem is? He is a polished and a matured individual, who will always put the team forward," Juneja concluded.

Will Bumrah play the second Test vs West Indies

Meanwhile, Bumrah was recently seen in action in the Asia Cup 2025 where he unfortunately wasn't able to fire at his best and finished with seven wickets in five matches. He then featured in the first Test of the two-match series against West Indies and gave an impressive performance by picking up a total of seven scalps in the match. However, it is expected that the 31-year-old will not be featuring in the second Test in order to minimize his chances of getting injured especially with the Australia tour being right around the corner.
