The USA cricket team created history in Toronto in an Under-19 match against Argentina on August 14 (Monday) during an ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier match. Batting first, USA posted a massive score of 515/8 on the board as two batters scored centuries at Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. After putting in a batting masterclass, the USA bowlers joined the party and dismissed Argentina for just 65 runs in 19.5 overs. As a result, the USA won the game by a humongous margin of 450 runs.
Bhavya Mehta and captain Rishi Ramesh led the USA's charge with the bat, scoring a century each. The duo stitched a stupendous partnership of 211 runs for the second wicket. Mehta scored 136 runs in 91 balls before losing his wicket in the form of a run out. He smashed 14 fours and three sixes and registered a strike rate of 149.45. Ramesh scored 100 runs in 59 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes and registered a strike rate of 169.49.
Opening batter Prannav Chettipalayam played a terrific cameo of 61 runs in 43 balls with the help of 10 fours. Arjun Mahesh added 67 runs in just 44 balls with the help of nine fours. Amogh Arepally chipped with a knock of 48 runs in 30 balls with the help of five fours and a six while Utkarsh Srivastava scored 45 runs in 22 balls with the help of four fours and a six.
Chasing a daunting target, Argentina batters folded like a pack of cards and showed no intent to apply themselves in the middle. On three Argentina batters managed a double-digit score before the team was bundled out for just 65 runs.
For the USA, Aarin Nadkarni stared with the ball and finished with figures of 6/21 in six overs. Aryan Satheesh chipped in with two wickets while Aryan Batra and Parth Patel bagged a wicket each.
