Huge update on Jasprit Bumrah's injury ahead of India's Test tour of Sri Lanka

Pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah's injury has become a major headache for Indian team management, especially ahead of Men's in Blue's crucial assignments.

Injured Jasprit Bumrah to report to CoE

Sports Tak has learnt that Bumrah, who suffered a knee injury during second ODI against England which ruled him out from the series decider at Lord's, has been asked to report to BCCI's Centre of Excellent (CoE) for further assessment.

"His scans was conducted and it has revealed left knee soreness and Bumrah was required to be administered injection which was done and as per the advice of doctor. He has been asked to report CoE to asses his injury. One more scan will done in next few days and then his treatment and rehab Will be planned," a source privy to the development said.

Will Bumrah feature in Test series vs Sri Lanka?

If Jasprit Bumrah's recovery stays on track, he could return to action during India's two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting August 15. However, his selection remains subject to passing a mandatory fitness test.

Jasprit Bumrah has long been the linchpin of India’s bowling attack across all formats. His missing presence during the climax of India's recent white-ball tour in England served as a stark reminder of his value, underscoring just how heavily the team relies on his raw pace, pinpoint control, and knack for striking in high-stakes overseas conditions.

After playing in the first two ODIs, Bumrah was sidelined for the decisive series finale at Lord's due to a left knee injury. The BCCI confirmed that the premier speedster suffered an impact injury while fielding during the second ODI in Cardiff, which subsequently triggered reactive swelling and forced him out of the final match.

Without Bumrah to lead the charge, India’s fast-bowling unit struggled for penetration and depth. England’s batting lineup capitalized on the inexperienced attack, with Gurnoor Brar giving up 97 runs in 10 wicketless overs, while Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav leaked 72 and 79 runs respectively while capturing just a single wicket between them. The stark contrast highlighted Bumrah's irreplaceable role, leaving India to eagerly await his full recovery ahead of the upcoming Test matches.
