ICC slaps 26-yr-old Hyderabad-born USA cricketer with 8-year ban over match-fixing charges in this league

USA's 26-year-old off-spinner Akhilesh Reddy has been handed an eight-year ban for three accounts of breach of ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on August 3 has banned USA player Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy for eight years. Reddy was found guilty of three ICC Anti Corruption Code breaches.

The ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found the Hyderabad-born cricketer of match-fixing charges in the Abu Dhabi T10 League's 2025 edition in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Here are the three charges levelled against Akhilesh Reddy - 

Article 2.1.1 – Attempting to fix, contrive or otherwise influence improperly, or being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct or other aspect of matches in the ADT10 2025.

Article 2.1.4 - soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating (or attempting to do the former) another Participant to breach Article 2.1.1 of the Code in one or more Matches in the ADT10 2025.

Article 2.4.7 – Obstructing the DACO’s investigation through deletion of data and messages from a mobile device which may have been relevant to the DACO’s investigation.

Who did Reddy represent in Abu Dhabi T10 League?

Reddy played for Aspin Stallions which was led by Harbhajan Singh. He played two games for them in the season and bagged one wicket. 

Reddy’s T20I career

He made his T20I debut against Cayman Islands last year. From four T20Is, he managed to take just one wicket. However, the off-spinner was economical, conceding at 5.31 runs per over. His other three appearances were against Bahamas, Bermuda and Canada in North America T20 Cup. His only wicket was against Bahamas.

When will Reddy be eligible to play cricket?

Last year, on November 21, Reddy had was provisionally suspended from playing professional cricket. He will be eligible to he will be eligible to play cricket on November 22, 2033.
