'I'm sure that...': Shikhar Dhawan makes big 2027 World Cup prediction for Rohit and Kohli

In a series of expected events, former star India opener Shikhar Dhawan believes Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli still have a good amount of cricket left in them, as they have plenty to offer to the national side and should be considered for the 2027 ODI World Cup. With both players now featuring only in the ODI format, Dhawan backed their experience and quality to strengthen India's chances of challenging for the prestigious title.

The duo of Rohit and Virat enjoyed a great outing with the bat in the recent three-game ODI series against England in July, although India eventually endured a 2-1 loss.

The age of Rohit (39 years) and Virat (37 years), has sparked plenty of discussions around the possibility of the duo staying in the team management's scheme of things for the prestigious tournament. However, the veteran duo continue to cement their case with strong performances on the field. During the recent ODI series against England, Kohli recorded two half-centuries, while Rohit smashed a wonderful hundred at Lord's.

In an interaction with ANI, Shikhar supported his former teammates, noting their long-standing contribution to Indian cricket and the value they continue to bring to the side.

"They are legends, they have performed for the country for so many years. Whether it's Virat or Rohit, all of us have had a relationship since we were around 16 years old. They are 2-3 years younger than me. And it's a matter of great joy that they are preparing now. Rohit recently scored a hundred at Lord's, so he scored a wonderful century and showed how his bat talks. Well, he's been showing it for so many years. And when a bit of a tough situation came, he replied with his bat," said Shikhar Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan praises Virat Kohli's fitness

While opening up on Virat, the former India international praised the 37-year-old batter for maintaining insane fitness levels even at this point in his career. Towards the end, Shikhar said that both Rohit and Kohli will feature in the upcoming World Cup.

"And as for Virat, the more he is praised, the less it is. Keeping himself so fit, performing so well. And I'm sure that both of them will add a lot of value in the World Cup and help the team win,"
