India A team to tour New Zealand before senior squad's arrival for multi-format series, Know schedule here

In preparation for the senior national team's multi-format tour later this year, the India A squad is scheduled to visit New Zealand this August. According to a report by PTI, the developmental tour will feature two first-class fixtures and three List A matches. This early trip is designed to give both rising talents and Test contenders crucial exposure to challenging overseas conditions well ahead of the main event.

The developmental matches serve a dual purpose, acting as a high-stakes audition for players aiming to break into the senior side. Standout performances during this window will carry significant weight, especially with the senior team scheduled to play a comprehensive series, comprising T20Is, ODIs, and two Test matches, between October 22 and December 1.

Selectors have their eyes on Mayank Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Ashok Sharma 

Furthermore, this shadow tour provides national selectors with a prime opportunity to test and expand India's fast-bowling reserves for future international tours. Among those expected to get a long look is pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who has recently recovered from injury and regained full fitness. Other domestic quicks, including Gurnoor Brar and Ashok Sharma, are also anticipated to be under the microscope as they compete for a spot in the senior pipeline.

With a packed international calendar on the horizon, national selectors are keeping a close eye on India’s wrist-spin department. Spinner Zeeshan Ansari has caught their attention, and standout performances in upcoming domestic tournaments, including the Duleep Trophy, could significantly boost his prospects for a senior call-up.

Meanwhile, the senior national team is gearing up for its multi-format tour of Sri Lanka, with the squad slated to depart on August 4 or 5. The team management has intentionally planned an early arrival to give the players ample time to acclimate to the local weather, pitch behavior, and overall playing conditions before the official matches get underway.

To wrap up their preparations, the Indian team will play a three- or four-day warm-up match against the Sri Lanka Board President's XI starting August 8. This practice fixture will serve as the final tune-up for the squad ahead of the highly anticipated opening Test match, which is scheduled to begin on August 15.
