Saurashtra's star wicket-keeper-batter Sheldon Jackson has announced his retirement from white-ball cricket on January 3. Cheteshwar Pujara's Saurashtra's teammate decided to retire from the 50-over format at the age of 38.

Despite this decision, Jackson will continue to represent Saurashtra in the longer format of the game. He is set to feature in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, showcasing his skills and experience in red-ball cricket.

Jackson leaves behind a successful List A career, having amassed 2792 runs in 84 innings at an impressive average of 36.25. His contributions included nine centuries and 14 half-centuries in the 50-over format.

Beyond List A, Jackson also he proved his batting prowess in the T20 format, scoring 1812 runs in 80 matches. This includes his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League, where he played nine matches.

Jackson's final white-ball appearance was in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored 13 runs off 10 balls for Saurashtra against Punjab.

Jackson's unbeaten 133 off 136 balls in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy final against Maharashtra, which powered Saurashtra to victory, remained the highlight of his career.

Sheldon Jackson's impressive red-ball stats

Sheldon Jackson, a stalwart for Saurashtra in Indian domestic cricket, continues to excel in the longer format of the game. He recently bagged a big milestone by playing his 100th First-Class match. Jackson's impressive First-Class career boasts 7187 runs in 103 matches, accompanied by 75 catches and two stumping dismissals. His remarkable batting average of 46.36 highlights his consistent contributions. A product of Mumbai's junior cricket scene, Jackson has further enriched his record with 39 half-centuries and an astounding 21 centuries in First-Class cricket.

On the other hand, in the T20 format, Jackson played 84 matches, scoring 1812 runs. 1  He showcased his consistency with 11 half-centuries and a single century in this format. While he was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he did not get an opportunity to play. However, he made his mark with the KKR, featuring in nine matches between 2017 and 2022.
