India dominate ICC ODI Rankings, three batters enter Top Five as Shubman Gill closes in on No.1

Despite the recent ODI series loss against England, India's top-order batters continue to shine in the latest ICC ODI rankings, with Shubman Gill taking one step closer to the No.1 spot following an impressive performance against England. Although India endured a 1-2 loss in the three-game ODI series, Gill's strong performances have strengthened his place among the world's elite and stayed in the contention for the top spot.

The India ODI and Test skipper boosted his chance for the top spot in the Men's ODI batting rankings after amassing 188 runs across three outings against the Three Lions. New Zealad's Daryl Mitchell stays at No.1 with 802 rating points, but Gill has moved to 801, leaving the Indian batter just one point away from becoming the world's highest ranked ODI batter.

Big gains for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Other than Gill, there are two more key batters in the updated rankings. Virat Kohli holds third place with 767 rating points, while Rohit Sharma sits fourth on 758 after his sensational century in the third and final ODI against England. With Shubman chasing the top spot, India have the strongest representation among the world's leading ODI batters.

Other top performers

Despite India's strong show, England managed to win the ODI series 2-1 with the help of several clutch performances. Joe Root emerged as one of the best batters after scoring 249 runs without being dismissed, climbing four places to eighth in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

Other than Joe Root, Ben Duckett also found success in making some impact, rising 11 spots to joint 19th while Jacob Bethell gained five places to reach 64th. On the other hand, New Zealand's Michael Bracewell and March Chapman moved up to 54th and 62nd respectively after their impressive performances against West Indies.
