India to host inaugural edition of ICC Women's Champions Trophy in 2027! Dates and venues revealed

India are set to host the inaugural edition of the ICC Women's Champions Trophy from February 14 to 28 in 2027. As many as six teams — India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka — will participate in the event which will be played in the T20I format.

The venues finalised for all matches are Mumbai's Cricket Club of India and Vadodra International Cricket Stadium.

The decision to move the tournament from Sri Lanka to India was taken on September 1. Apart from India, South Africa and Bangladesh were the other two candidates to host the event.

“The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 marks an exciting new chapter for women’s cricket," ICC Chairman Jay Shah said.

"As the inaugural edition of the tournament, it will bring together the best teams in the world in an intense, high-quality competition, while creating even greater incentive for teams to continue rising through the rankings and competing for a place on the global stage.

All the teams will complete in a round-robin league format. Then, the top two sides at the end of league stage will qualify for the final on February 28. 

Why Pakistan will not play in ICC Champions Trophy?

The cut-off date for qualification for ICC Women's Champions Trophy was July 6, 2026. At that time, neither Pakistan or West Indies were in top six.

T20I, ODI World Champions to fight it out 

Hosts India are the defending ODI World Champions. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India had beaten South Africa in the final to win their maiden World Cup. However, India couldn't make it past the group stage in ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 on England soil. Australia won the tournament and will look to add another trophy to their cabinet.
