India's ODI squad announced: After leading Mumbai Indians to their second WPL title, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead a new-look team in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Highlights:

Shafali Verma is one of the notable absentees from the ODI squad.

Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu are yet to recover from their respective injuries.

The tri-series will begin on April 27.

India's squad for tri-nation ODI series against Sri Lanka and South Africa has been announced on April 8. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has been boosted with young talent. Three young players -- Kashvee Gautam, Sree Charani and, Shuchi Upadhyay -- have received maiden call-ups in the international side. 

The selection committee picked rookies as Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu are yet to recover from their respective injuries. They were not considered for selection.

No place for Shafali

Shafali Verma who was dropped from the squad across formats after a dismal show in T20 World Cup 2024 is yet to regain her place. Shafali had a good run in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 for Delhi Capitals and has performed in domestic cricket as well.

Kashvee, Charani rewarded for WPL show in maiden season

Kashvee made her WPL debut in 2025 edition for Gujarat Giants. The 21-year-old claimed 11 wickets at an average of 18.18 and has an economy rate of 6.45 runs per over.

Charani made her debut for DC in WPL 2025. She got two chances and claimed four wickets at an average of 17.75. However, the left-arm spinner conceded runs at 8.87 runs per over.

India's schedule for tri-series 

India will play in the tri-series opener against Sri Lanka on April 27. All the matches will be played in Colombo. India's second match is against South Africa on April 29. On May 4, India will go up against Sri Lanka again. The second clash against South Africa will be on May 7. The final of the tri-series is scheduled to be played on May 11.
