In all likelihood, Yash Dayal will join Chhatisgarh as a guest player

Left-arm quick Yash Dayal is set to end his seven-year association with Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. The Indian fast bowler is lined up to join Chhattisgarh as a guest player for the upcoming 2026-27 domestic season. As reported by News18 Cricketnext, Dayal has already requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), though UPCA officials have so far stayed silent on the matter.

Chhattisgarh is actively re-tooling its squad for the new campaign, targeting experienced campaigners Jayant Yadav and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja alongside Dayal to complete their three allotted guest player slots. In fact, the trio has already linked up with the rest of the Chhattisgarh squad at a pre-season fitness camp in Alur, Karnataka, where they are training under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Ameya Khurasia.

In a bid to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026–27 domestic season, the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) has locked in Yash Dayal, Jayant Yadav, and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja as its three allowed guest players. CSCS sources confirmed to CricketNext that the selection committee brought the experienced trio on board to inject extra firepower into the lineup. While final squad places officially depend on performance in the pre-season fitness camp, the association expressed complete confidence in the veteran trio's physical readiness and pedigree.

The full Chhattisgarh squad for the upcoming campaign is slated to be officially revealed by the second week of August. Once finalized, the three high-profile guest recruits are expected to feature prominently as all-format options across the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

At the helm of Chhattisgarh’s revamped setup is former Indian international Amay Khurasiya, who takes over as head coach. A left-handed batter who featured in 12 ODIs for India between 1999 and 2001, Khurasiya built a prolific first-class career with Madhya Pradesh, compiling over 7,000 runs. Following his playing days, he transitioned into a highly regarded domestic coach, most recently leading Kerala to a historic first-ever Ranji Trophy final prior to accepting the Chhattisgarh role.

Heading the list of new player acquisitions is left-arm seamer Yash Dayal, the most prominent of the three guest signings. Dayal made headlines during Gujarat Titans' IPL title run in 2022, though his trajectory took an intense turn the following year when KKR's Rinku Singh famously hit five straight sixes against him in a dramatic final-over IPL chase.
