The mini-auction is also returning to India after being held overseas in recent years. The last time India hosted the IPL auction was in 2023 in Kochi. It was followed by the auctions held in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi.

The league is preparing to mark its 20th anniversary with special celebrations during the 2027 season. As of now, the exact location for the auction has not been finalised. However, it has been revealed that the BCCI is set to select an Indian city based on hotel availability and other logistical requirements.

Meanwhile, one of the major discussions in the league is the Impact Player rule. While some teams want to keep the rule, some of the other teams want the rule to be gone permanently. BBCI, as per reports, has asked the IPL teams to submit their feedback on the rule.
