England pacer Jofra Archer, who is missing all the action of the ICC T20 World Cup, is itching to get back to the cricket field. The Barbadian-born English cricketer took to his Twitter account on Friday, informing his fans that he is doing everything to return to the game and not watch “another tournament on the sofa”.
Archer has been missing from the cricket field due to a back injury. “Def doing everything in my power so I never have to watch another tournament on the sofa again,” he tweeted.
The 26-year-old last played for the national team during the 5th T20I against India earlier this year. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he injured his finger accidentally while cleaning the fish tank.
The Sussex bowler, who hasn’t played cricket since March, made a comeback during the English summer after a successful finger surgery but ended up aggravating his back issues. He is also not a part of the English squad for the upcoming Ashes Series Down Under. England will resume their cricketing rivalry with Australia on December 8 at the Gabba.
Archer’s absence was a big blow to the England before the T20 World Cup. However, the big shoes have been ably filled by left-arm seamer Tymal Mills, who has claimed five wickets in two matches so far.
England are currently top on the points table with four points, recording back-to-back comprehensive victories against defending champions West Indies and Bangladesh. The 50-over champions will look to continue with their winning streak when they take on Australia on Saturday in a high-octane game in Dubai.
