England speedster Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against West Indies, which is scheduled to start from May 29. The 30-year-old star has suffered a thumb injury that also threatens to delay a potential return to Test cricket.
Archer has been replaced by 29-year-old Lancashire left-armer Luke Wood. He will be reassessed by the England medical team over the next fortnight but is perhaps also a doubt for England Lions' red-ball game against India A in Northampton from June 6.
“England Men's and Sussex pace bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the Metro Bank ODI series against the West Indies due to a right thumb injury. He will be reassessed by the England medical team over the next fortnight to determine when he may return to action. Lancashire’s Luke Wood has been added to England’s ODI squad for the three-match series, which begins on 29 May at Edgbaston,” read the ECB statement.
England will play a three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to start from May 29 and the last clash will take place on June 3.
