Josh Hazlewood announced his comeback to the Test arena in style, tearing through the Bangladesh batting lineup to claim 6 for 89 across 28 overs in the first Test at Darwin. Making his first appearance in the longest format after a year-long absence, the New South Wales seamer built on his two scalps from Day 2 by ripping through four more batters on August 15.

His masterclass helped him join an elite pantheon of Australian bowling, making him just the ninth bowler from his country to surpass the 301-wicket barrier in Test history.

The six-wicket haul also wrote Hazlewood's name into the record books as the first Australian fast bowler ever to claim a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in international cricket. In doing so, he eclipsed a long-standing mark previously held by Ian Harvey, whose 4 for 16 during a 2003 ODI in Darwin had stood as the best figures by an Australian seamer against Bangladesh for over two decades.

Meanwhile, back in the ongoing Darwin Test, Mitchell Starc added to the Aussie assault by picking up two first-innings scalps. Those dismissals pushed Starc’s career tally to 435 Test wickets, cementing his position as the 11th highest wicket-taker in the history of five-day cricket.
