Video of Dhoni cutting cake went viral

Legendary India wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni was seen celebrating his 44th birthday with his friends in Ranchi in a viral video. Dhoni, who recently featured for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, had a rather low-key celebration to his birthday and rather than visiting extravagant restaurants or cafes, he decided to celebrate the occasion simply with some of his close friends.

The video of Dhoni celebrating his birthday has gone viral

In a video which is making rounds on social media, Dhoni can be seen asking for permission before cutting the cake. "Kaat dein? (Can I cut it now?)," Dhoni said in the video. After cutting the cake, the newly-turned 44-year-old made sure that everyone got a piece of it and he also took small bites when others approached to feed him.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has retired from all the international formats and is currently only active as a player for CSK in IPL. The former wicketkeeper-batter has been featuring for the Chennai-based franchise since the inaugural season of the league in 2008. He is a legend for that side as well and has captained them to five IPL titles so far, the joint-most for any team.

When it comes to the international stage, Dhoni is the only captain in history to win the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy. He is also the Indian captain to win the most international trophies. It will definitely not be an easy task at all for any present or future skipper to replace him and replicate his success. With 17,266 international runs, 829 dismissals in 538 matches across all formats, the 44-year-old is also undoubtedly the greatest wicketkeeper-batter to ever don the Indian jersey.

Dhoni was recently also added into International Cricket Council's (ICC) Hall of Fame, becoming just the 11th Indian to be bestowed with the honour by the global body. This once again cemented his legacy as one of the legends of the game and also as one of the finest wicketkeepers to ever grace the sport. It will be a sad sad day when Dhoni decides to quit IPL as well, completely leaving the game behind him.
