India's ace spinner runs riot in England, snaps up two wickets in three balls for this team

Fresh off signing a deal with Yorkshire that includes five One-Day Cup and three County Championship appearances, Kuldeep Yadav made an immediate impact in his debut on Friday. The 31-year-old Indian wrist-spinner, who didn't feature in India's recent ODI series against England, hit the ground running with an economical spell of 2 for 39 across his 10 overs.

'Kuldeep Yadav' magic on Yorkshire debut

The Kanpur-born spinner saved his big moments for the end of his spell at Neath’s Gnoll Cricket Ground. In the 44th over, Kuldeep broke through on his very first ball, having Alex Horton (30) caught by Will Bennison. Just two balls later, he sent Jamie McIlroy back for a duck, with Jack White taking the catch to give Kuldeep his second wicket of the over.

Kuldeep’s late double-strike capped off a dominant bowling display that rolled Glamorgan over for just 186 in 47 overs. While the Indian star kept things tight, Benjamin Cliff spearheaded the attack with a standout 4 for 29, alongside two-wicket contributions from George Hill and Jack White.

With an impressive tally of 194 wickets across 121 ODIs for India, Kuldeep Yadav’s stint with Yorkshire is just getting started. The left-arm spinner is set to feature in four more One-Day Cup fixtures before making a return trip in September to feature in three of the county’s final four County Championship clashes.

Will Kuldeep Yadav feature in Test series against Sri Lanka?

The move to county cricket came after Kuldeep was left out of India's T20I squad for the current series in Zimbabwe. However, his spell in England serves as valuable game time ahead of an expected national recall for India's upcoming two-Test tour of Sri Lanka next month. Those Sri Lanka fixtures carry immense weight for India as part of the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle.
