Young Team India opening batter Prithvi Shaw recently made headlines for non-cricketing reasons. Shaw got into a verbal altercation with a few fans outside a nightclub in Mumbai which even took a violent turn but no injuries were reported. After the investigation by police, no charges were pressed against the Indian cricketer. After making headlines for all the wrong reasons, the 2018 Under-19 World Cup-winning captain on March 09 (Thursday) posted a cryptic post on Instagram that left netizens surprised and searching for answers.
"Some people will only love you, as much as they can use you. Their loyalty ends where the benefits stop," Shaw said in an Instagram story.
The strong-worded post seemed to be targeted towards some of Shaw's closed ones as the India cricketer continues to battle turbulent times both on and off the field.
On the cricketing front, Shaw made a comeback to India's T20I squad for the New Zealand series earlier in the year after a long wait of nearly 18 months but did not get to play a single game.
The Mumbai batter was not discouraged by the lack of playing time and understood the reasoning behind the Team management's decision to keep him on the bench.
“I felt really nice coming back into the T20I squad, to meet the players and train with them. I enjoyed that bit. Yes I did not get an opportunity but was given the chance of making a comeback, that mattered,” the 23-year-old told News24.
“It all depended on them, when to play when not to, but I respected that because probably they wanted to give the person before me a bit longer run. But again, I don't regret that. I will keep on looking for opportunities because I have a list of goals I want to achieve with the Indian team,” he added.
Shaw has represented India in all three formats of the game. The swashbuckling right-handed batter has played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I for the senior men's national team.
