Massive setback for teen cricketers, BCCI now requires U16 players to play Ranji before featuring in IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India have announced a new rule for the U16 players to represent themselves in the Ranji Trophy for at least one game before featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have hosted the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, where the cricket board made it mandatory for the U16 players to play at least one Ranji match before featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

Who are the new members of the BCCI selection committee?

Apart from this, BCCI also announced the appointment of Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh in the men's national team selection committee. Delhi's Amita Sharma has been appointed chairperson of the Women's selection committee, while Mumbai's Sulakshana Naik and Shravanti Naidu from Hyderabad join in too.

Who is new BCCI president after Roger Binny?

Apart from that, Mithun Manhas has been unopposedly elected as BCCI president, along with the other office-bearers. Rajeev Shukla will be his deputy as Vice President, and Raghuram Bhat has been confirmed as Treasurer. Devajit Saikia, who surpassed Jay Shah as BCCI secretary, will continue in his role, and Prabhtej Bhatia joins him as joint secretary.

Jayesh George will be the Chairperson for the WPL committee, while Rohan Jaitley will assume the same role in the Infrastructure Committee.
