Texas Super Kings registered a comprehensive 52-run win over Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 encounter at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. Gujarat-born batter who has shared dressing room with T20 World Cup 2024-winning players Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, scored his maiden MLC century to help Faf du Plessis' Super Kings post 196/8. Then, Los Angeles Knight Riders' top five batters batted with ODI-like strike rate as they posted 144/7 and suffered their fourth defeat of the season.

Slow start

Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl first. Du Plessis hit three fours before getting caught at deep backward square to Shadley van Schalkwyk. In his next over, he got the wickets of Saiteja Mukkamalla and Marcus Stoinis off consecutive deliveries. Texas Super Kings were 49/3 after powerplay overs. Ranjane and Smit Patel accelerated in the middle overs. The partnership was broken by Andre Russell in the 12th over. Smit departed for a 33-ball 39.ย

Ferreira's fiery knock, Ranjane's fifty leads Super Kings to challenging total

Donovan Ferreira targetted Russell in the 16th over with a six and two fours. Then, Ranjane reached his fifty from 36 balls with a maximum off Holder. Shadley returned to bowl his last over but was hit for three sixes, including two off Ranjane's bat. In the penultimate over, Ferreira was run out as he wasn't ready to take a run via byes. He scored 43 runs from 21 balls. Ranjane hit a four before getting bowled in the same over by Ali Khan. The USA batter's 45-ball 70 was laced with six fours and four sixes. In the final over, Russell dismissed on-debut Akeal Hosein, got hit for a six and finished the innings with Noor Ahmad's wicket. Texas Super Kings posted 196/8.

No fight in run chase

Left-arm spinner Hosein struck twice in the second over with the wickets of Alex Hales and Nitish Kumar. LA Knight Riders had just 39 runs on the board after powerplay overs. Unmukt Chand and Saif Badar struggled to score at a brisk rate. In the ninth over, Stoinis dismissed Badar for a 21-ball 19. Ferreira did damage with the ball as well by knocking over Chand for a run-a-ball 30. Sherfane Rutherford could not score quicly either and got bowled by left-arm chinaman bowler Noor.ย 

In the 15th over, Rovman Powell hit Nandre Burger for two sixes. In his last over, Noor ended Russell's troubled stay at the crease. Zia-ul-Haq returned to the attack and ended Powell's cameo. He scored 21 runs from 15 balls. Jason Holder (17-ball 26) and Shadley (8-ball 13) hit a few boundaries but the required run rate was out of grasp. LA Knight Riders posted 144/7 and lost the match by 52 runs. Ferreira was named 'Player of the match' for his quickfire 43 and the wicket of Chand.
