Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has formally started working as Telangana's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). In order to take the post, which was extended to him by the state government in appreciation of his exceptional achievement in international cricket, he reported to the Director General of Police (DGP) on Friday. Siraj has made Telangana proud and brought honours to the nation, hence this assignment is a great honour for him.
Mohammed Siraj has a stellar career representing India in a number of important competitions. Among his noteworthy accomplishments are his participation in the Cricket World Cup finals and the World Test Championship. He was most recently a member of the victorious Indian team that ended a stunning 13-year drought to win the T20 World Cup.
The cricket player and two-time world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen were awarded Group-1 positions by the Telangana government in July of this year in recognition of their exceptional achievements in their respective sports. Following the declaration made by the state's chief minister, A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana (Regulation of Appointments to Public Services and Rationalization of Staff Pattern and Pay Structure) Act, 1994 was amended by the state government to make the appointments easier.
Mohammed Siraj's job was announced by the chief minister of Telangana following his contribution to Team India's victory in the T20 World Cup in June. The right-arm pacer was the lone member of India's winning team from his state.
