Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain recently disclosed that former India captain Virat Kohli's wicket was his favorite during this year’s Champions Trophy. This memorable moment occurred during a Group A match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Rishad successfully trapped Kohli, who had scored 22 runs off 38 balls, although Bangladesh ultimately went on to lose the match by six wickets.
Rishad Hossain calls Virat Kohli his favourite wicket from Champions Trophy
The dismissal came when Kohli attempted a late cut off a fuller delivery, striking the ball and creating a faint edge that flew straight to Soumya Sarkar, who completed the catch with ease. Rishad also managed to claim the wicket of Axar Patel, finishing as Bangladesh’s standout bowler with impressive figures of 2 for 38 from his 10 overs. Despite his excellent effort, the "Tigers" were unfortunately unable to defend their total of 229.
“I think my favorite wicket in the Champions Trophy was Virat Kohli. It was a completely new experience for me. When I came home and checked my phone, I saw so many comments and messages—it was overwhelming but really heartwarming,” Rishad said in a video on BBL.
Rishad Hossain's BBL Debut
Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain is set to make his debut in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Hobart Hurricanes. His signing marks the return of a Bangladeshi cricketer to the popular Australian league, a streak broken since Shakib Al Hasan represented the Melbourne Renegades during the 2014-15 season. This opportunity comes a year later than originally planned. The Hurricanes had initially selected Rishad last year, but his participation was blocked after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to issue him a No Objection Certificate (NOC), preventing him from joining the team.
“I’m truly happy and excited for the Big Bash. It’s one of the biggest leagues in the world, which makes it very important for me. That’s why I decided to participate in the Big Bash. As a Bangladeshi, I always try to represent my country to the best of my ability, and I will give 100 per cent in Hobart,” Rishad further stated.
The Hobart Hurricanes will play their campaign opener on December 16, facing the Sydney Thunder at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The Hurricanes enter the tournament as the defending champions, having defeated the Thunder in last year's final, a victory that was propelled by a brilliant century from Mitchell Owen.
