Prithvi Shaw, in a stunning comeback, proved his batting prowess during a Mumbai T20 League 2025 match between Mumbai Panthers and Triumph Knights. The Mumbai Panthers' captain showcasing roared back to form with a blistering century.
Prithvi Shaw, who was brought into the North Mumbai Panthers as an icon player and subsequently appointed as their captain, finally notched his first fifty of the season. He played a robust knock of 75 runs off just 34 balls which was studded with 12 boundaries and three sixes. His explosive knock significantly contributed to North Mumbai Panthers posting a total of 207 runs for the loss of six wickets against the Suryakumar Yadav-led Triumph Knights Mumbai North East.
Adding to his reputation for aggressive batting, the right-handed opener seems to have developed a penchant for hitting bowlers for six boundaries in a single over. This was evident once again during his recent innings, as the Mumbai-based cricketer repeated this feat against Minad Manjrekar. In the fifth over of the match, the former Delhi Capitals star began his onslaught by guiding the first two deliveries to the boundary for four runs each.
Displaying his intent for a big over, Shaw then went for an aggressive shot on the third ball, which also resulted in a boundary. He then proceeded to finish the over in spectacular fashion, hitting three consecutive fours off the remaining deliveries. This remarkable display of power hitting allowed him to accumulate a total of 26 runs from that single over. Interestingly, this is not the first time Shaw has achieved this milestone. In the 2021 edition of the IPL, while playing for Delhi Capitals, Prithvi Shaw had shown no mercy to Kolkata Knight Riders bowler and his Under-19 teammate Shivam Mavi, smashing him for six boundaries in a single over, etching his name in IPL record books.
Despite this encouraging knock, his overall performance in the ongoing Mumbai T20 League 2025 has been modest. In the five innings he has played so far, the 25-year-old has managed to score just 137 runs at an average of 27.40, indicating that while this innings is a positive sign, consistent performance will be key for his future prospects.
