India pacer Prasidh Krishna was involved in a heated verbal spat with England's Joe Root during the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy which was played at The Oval. The red-ball series between the two teams was quite an evenly-contested affair and eventually ended at 2-2. There were several moments throughout the assignment where teams from both players clashed against each other and tempers flared.
One of the many heated exchanges of the series took place between Krishna and Root during the second day of the Oval Test. It was the Indian seamer who first uttered a word to the batter, who didn't take his words kindly and this would eventually result in a verbal spat between the two.

Now, Krishna has revealed what exactly he told Root that ended up leaving the latter furious. According to the pacer, the batter overreacted during the incident and started hurling abuse against him.
“I don’t know why Rooty reacted. I just said, ‘you’re looking in great shape’ and then it turned into a lot of abuse and all of that," Krishna said while speaking on ESPNCricinfo.
Krishna further revealed that he had a conversation with Root after the match had concluded in order to clarify himself. It was then that he got to know that the latter had misunderstood what he had said to him on the field.
“I did go and speak to most of them, including Root. I asked him what happened. He said, ‘I thought you abused me. ‘ I said, No and he replied, ‘I actually just wanted to get myself going as well, so I had to pump myself up," Krishna stated.
“That’s what I love about the sport, that’s the way I’ve always played it. To see everybody and especially a legend like him, putting it all out there and fighting for the team, even today, that’s something for everyone to learn from," he added.
