India’s recently retired off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to begin his journey to explore various T20 franchise leagues across the globe in the next few months. It seems like Ashwin won’t have to worry about choosing either ILT20 or the Big Bash League (BBL) due to overlapping schedules. As per a report by Cricbuzz, he may end up playing both leagues.
The report further claims that Ashwin as already registered for the upcoming ILT20 auction. In addition, he has had offers from multiple franchises to represent them in the BBL 2025-26. This includes defending champions Hobart Hurricanes, coached by Ricky Ponting. Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers, coached by Tim Paine have made advances to secure Ashwin for the upcoming season as well.
I have registered for the auction. Hopefully, one of the six franchises will be interested in bidding for me," Ashwin said.
However, Ashwin will be available to play BBL in the latter half. The ILT20 will begin on December 2 and the final will be played on January 4. Meanwhile, BBL will commence on December 14 and the final is scheduled to be played on January 25. Ashwin is likely to be available for the January leg of the BBL this time around.
Ashwin is yet to confirm any developments related to his potential BBL contract.
