The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s senior selection committee confirmed the decision following a meeting on Friday. On the other hand, left-arm pacer Chama Milind has been named vice-captain and will lead the side in matches where Siraj is unavailable due to national commitments.
Siraj, a regular member of India’s Test setup and a product of Hyderabad cricket, recently featured for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy. The association expressed confidence in the leadership pair and wished them success for the domestic campaign.
The Ranji Trophy remains India’s premier first-class competition, and the appointment places significant responsibility on one of the country’s leading pace bowlers at state level. The bowler is looking to get his rhythm back as Ranji plays a crucial role ahead of the upcoming Test matches.
