Retained by Delhi Capitals for Rs 10 crore, star player appears on list of registered players for IPL 2025 mega auction

A massive number of 1,574 players have registered for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. With a few weeks left before the bidding war begins, franchise will be looking at the full list of players available in the auction. However, Delhi Capitals (DC) may not be pleased with their star player Tristan Stubbs' name on the list. Stubbs who was retained for a hefty sum of Rs 10 crore is surprsingly present on the list players registered for the mega auction. 

Stubbs is 253rd player on the list. The 24-year-old's base price is Rs 1.5 crore as per the list of registered players accessed by Sports Tak.

Stubbs was among the four players retained by DC. Axar Patel was the top pick with Rs 16.50 crore followed by Kuldeep Yadav (Rs 13.25 crore). DC retained wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel for Rs 4 crore as their uncapped player. Skipper Rishabh Pant was not retained as he opted to put his name for the mega auction.

In IPL 2024 auction, Stubbs was roped in by DC for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Earlier, he had played for Mumbai Indians (MI). He batted in the middle order for DC scoring 378 runs from 13 innings at an average of 54 including three half-centuries. His strike rate was a stupendous 190.90. He was retained by DC ahead of other overseas stars Anrich Nortje, David Warner, Mitchell marsh and others. DC have Rs 73 crore remaining in their purse for the auction.

Stubbs was handy with his off-spin as well. He bowled just two overs and bagged three wickets. He conceded 7.25 runs per over.

Stubbs' international numbers

Stubbs has been in fine form of late. Last month, he scored his maiden Test century against Bangladesh. In T20Is, he has scored 557 runs from 25 innings at an average of 27.85 including two fifties. In ODIs he has made a mark as well. He has scored 248 runs from seven innings at an average of 49.60 including a century and half-century each.
