Hitman urged that youngsters should learn two traits from Virat Kohli beyond batting.

India's captain Rohit Sharma commended Virat Kohli and said that there is much to learn from the former captain, both on and off the field. In a conversation with Dinesh Karthik on Jio Cinema, Sharma stressed the brilliance of India's batting maestro Kohli and highlighted the invaluable lessons that young cricketers could learn from one of the greatest batters of all time.

According to Sharma, before delving into Kohli's batting technique, youngsters should take note of the high standards he upholds and the unwavering determination he exhibits despite achieving remarkable success at the international level.

"Virat Kohli has never been to NCA in his entire career. I would say that all the younger players should look up to the passion that he has. Leave alone how he plays the cover drive, flick, cut but first things first you have to understand what is the quality of the players that makes him where he is today," Sharma said in a chat with Karthik on Jio Cinema.

Hitman highlighted the need for internal changes, suggesting that youngsters could observe Virat Kohli and adjust their attitudes and behaviors accordingly.

The 36-year-old elaborated that certain changes must originate from within oneself. For young players, he recommended observing Kohli as a guide to adjust their attitudes and behaviors accordingly.

"I have watched Kohli enough. He can easily be satisfied with what he has achieved. He can say that I will take it easy in these 2-3 series, I will come later, but he is always there for the team. That mindset of being hungry and not complacent cannot be taught. You have to learn that by looking at others. It has to come from within. I cannot teach you that," Sharma said.

Technique Can Come Later

The current captain of the Indian cricket team stressed the importance of maintaining an insatiable hunger to represent the nation, insisting that this hunger should endure. Sharma concluded by affirming that the fundamental requirements for earning a spot in the national team were passion, unwavering hunger, and a deep sense of pride in representing India.

"That is the first thing that I would say rather than looking at Virat Kohli or others technically. You have to stay hungry all the time, bring the passion and the pride to everything, being out there in the sun, playing for the team and getting the job done. This is what I want to the guys to have first," Sharma concluded.

Kohli is presently on hiatus for personal reasons and is anticipated to rejoin the Indian team for the third Test match of the series.
