The tri-series between India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A will start from June 9

In a big setback to India A, their star all-rounder Riyan Parag has been ruled out of the tri-series in Sri Lanka due to injury. Meanwhile, the Men’s Selection Committee has officially added top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad to India A squad as vice-captain for the tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Gaikwad's inclusion brings a wealth of leadership and batting experience to the touring side as they prepare for the competitive tournament.

In a notable selection update, Ruturaj Gaikwad has once again been included in the BCCI’s 30-member longlist of probables for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. Gaikwad, who famously captained the Indian contingent to a gold medal at the previous edition of the tournament, remains firmly in the selectors’ wider plans. Although he hasn't been among the most in-form or headline-grabbing performers recently, his inclusion in the larger squad pool submitted to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) underscores the management's continued trust in his capabilities.

Concurrently, there have been structural adjustments within the India A setup earlier this month. Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Anukul Roy was added to the India A squad as a replacement player. This vacancy arose after Harsh Dubey received a major promotion, earning a maiden call-up to India’s senior Test and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan.
