Since the time Pakistan cricket star Shoaib Malik announced his marriage to actor Sana Javed, social media has been ablaze with one pertinent question: Is Sania Mirza divorced from Shoaib? Well, according to a report in PTI, the duo was divorced as confirmed by a family member of the Indian tennis icon.
"It was a 'khula'", PTI quoted Sania's family member as saying.
'Khula' is the 'right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.'
The 2010 wedding of Shoaib and Sania was a grand affair, marked by traditional Muslim ceremonies in Hyderabad, India, followed by a Walima celebration in Sialkot, Pakistan. In 2018, the couple was blessed with their first child, Izhaan. While their marriage has always been of significant interest to the public, both Malik and Mirza have consistently maintained a private stance regarding their personal life, even amid widespread speculation about the state of their marriage. A recent ambiguous post by Mirza on social media further ignited these rumors.

Last year, the couple briefly quelled separation rumors when they were seen celebrating their son Izhaan's birthday together in Dubai. Nevertheless, this year, the rumors gained momentum once again when Malik updated his Instagram profile, notably omitting the phrase “Husband to a Superwoman @mirzasaniar.”

In 2020, Sana married Pakistani actor and singer-songwriter Umair Jaswal in a private Nikah ceremony. According to Siasat.com, the couple began living separately not long after their wedding, and they removed their pictures from social media platforms.
