Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, currently leading the IPL team Punjab Kings, is facing challenging times in his personal life, despite maintaining his professional commitments. Dhawan, who is currently not part of the Indian national cricket team across all formats, is experiencing personal struggles, particularly concerning his relationship with his son, Zoravar.
Dhawan and his wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, have been separated, a situation that has severely limited his interactions with his son. The cricketer revealed through an emotional post on Instagram that he has been unable to meet Zoravar in person for over a year. Moreover, Dhawan claimed that he is blocked from all digital platforms that could facilitate virtual communication with his son.
"It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so Posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday," Dhawan wrote on Instagram.
"Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely.
"Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong.
"Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life.
"Love you loads Zora," he added.
Legal proceedings regarding their separation culminated in October of this year, with a Delhi court granting Dhawan a divorce on the grounds of "cruelty" by his estranged wife Aesha. The court's decision included provisions for mandatory visitation rights, allowing Dhawan to meet his son in both India and Australia. The order also stipulates that Aesha is to bring their son to India for visitation, including overnight stays with Dhawan and his family, particularly during school holidays. Despite these legal provisions, Dhawan's current situation suggests he is still unable to connect with his son, even through virtual means, let alone in person.
