Heinrich Klaasen has been retained for a whopping Rs 23 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have retained five players including skipper Pat Cummins ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. Cummins who led SRH to the IPL 2024 final will continue to lead them in the next season as well. But it was Heinrich Klaasen, who made headlines as he has been retained for a whopping Rs 23 crores.

Explosive duo Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma who tormented opponents and broke several records in IPL 2024 with their attacking intent, are also amongst the five retentions for SRH. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s retentions

Pat Cummins: 18 cr
Abhishek Sharma: 14 cr
Nitish Kumar Reddy: 6 cr
Heinrich Klaasen: 23 cr
Travis Head: 14 cr

SRH did not retain star all-rounder Washington Sundar whose stocks have risen of late. Despite they opted for fast-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who recently made his T20I debut against Bangladesh and has been picked in India’s Test squad for Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Reddy made his IPL debut last season scoring 303 runs at an average of 33.66 and claiming three wickets. Reddy has been retained for Rs 6 crore.

SRH’s star cricketers’ IPL 2024 numbers

In the previous season, Klaasen scored 479 runs from 15 innings at an average of 39.91 including four half-centuries. He scored at a strike rate of 171.07. Cummins who is the second-most expensive player in the history of IPL auctions claimed 18 wickets from 16 matches at an average of 31.44 in IPL 2024 season.

Abhishek scored 484 runs from 16 innings at an average of 32.26 including three half-centuries. His strike rate was an outstanding 204.21. Abhishek's opening partner Head scored most runs for the franchise in the season. The Australian opener scored 567 runs from 15 innings at an average of 40.50 including one century and four fifties. His strike rate was a little lower than Abhishek at 191.55.
