Sundar passes fitness test for Afghanistan T20Is, final report on Bumrah, Reddy & Harshit on this date

India’s spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has passed the fitness test less than a week ahead of the three-T20I series against Afghanistan at home. While Sports Tak has learnt that Sundar has been given the green light, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy underwent match simulation on September 7. The pace-bowling all-rounders' report is awaited.

Meanwhile, India pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will undergo match simulation on September 9. A final report on the quartet is expected on the evening of September 9.

Sundar, Rana, Reddy and Bumrah were named in the T20I squad subject to fitness. Sundar had missed the third and final ODI of the series against England due to an injury. He missed Zimbabwe tour and two-Test series against Sri Lanka.

Rana had returned in the side for UK tour after a long injury layoff. But, Rana was ruled out midway into the T20I series against England followed by the ODIs too. He returned to the T20I squad after missing the Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka tour as well.

Reddy had suffered a quadriceps injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan. He missed the UK and Zimbabwe tour in entirety. He will play his first T20I since January 2025.

Bumrah had also missed the third ODI of the series against England due to an impact injury. He was ruled out of Sri Lanka tour. He'll play his first T20I since the T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand before heading to Japan for Asian Games 2026.

The T20I series will begin on September 13 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. All three T20Is will be played at the same venue.
