Mystery spinner Sunil Narine officially cemented his place among T20 cricket's all-time greats on Wednesday by becoming only the third bowler in the format's history to claim 600 wickets.

Sunil Narine notches 600th T20 wicket

The Trinidadian star achieved this monumental milestone during an ILT20 clash in Sharjah while representing the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders against the Sharjah Warriorz, securing the landmark wicket by dismissing Tom Abell.

Across his 568 T20 matches, he has maintained an exceptional average of 22.09 and a highly restrictive economy rate of 6.16. His best bowling performance remains 5/19, a record that is complemented by 12 four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul throughout his decorated career. Narine currently sits third on the all-time list of T20 wicket-takers. The list is headed by Afghanistan's spin sensation, Rashid Khan, who leads the pack with 681 wickets from 499 matches, demonstrating a remarkable efficiency. Just ahead of Narine is West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo, who secured 631 wickets in 582 matches, solidifying the three players as the definitive bowling greats of Twenty20 cricket.

Narine, renowned for his exceptional control and unique mystery spin, has been an indispensable figure across various Knight Riders franchises worldwide. He has been a consistent stalwart for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, and the Los Angeles Knight Riders. His longevity and sustained wicket-taking ability have earned him the reputation of being among the greatest T20 bowlers the game has ever seen. Following the match, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders honored the achievement by presenting Narine with a specially designed jersey emblazoned with the number 600, celebrating a hallmark moment in T20 history.

For Kolkata Knight Riders specifically, Narine has been a foundational pillar, contributing to three of their IPL-winning campaigns. Recognizing his ongoing value and star power, KKR retained the player ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Narine is now set to play his 15th consecutive season with the franchise next year, demonstrating a level of commitment and consistent performance rarely seen in the format.

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders secure big victory

During the match, Narine delivered a tidy spell of 1/22 across his four overs, securing the crucial dismissal of Tom Abell. The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders posted a formidable total thanks to explosive batting performances. Liam Livingstone led the charge, remaining unbeaten on 82 off just 38 balls, an innings featuring two fours and eight sixes. He was well supported by Sherfane Rutherford, who hammered 45 runs off 27 deliveries, including three fours and three sixes. These efforts propelled ADKR to a massive score of 233/4 in their allotted 20 overs. For the Sharjah Warriorz (SW), Adil Rashid was the most effective bowler, finishing with figures of 2/31. In response, the Sharjah Warriorz put up a spirited fight but ultimately fell short of the challenging target. Tim David played a blistering knock, scoring 60 runs off only 24 balls with two fours and seven sixes, while Dwaine Pretorius contributed a quick-fire 39 off 20 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. However, consistent wickets taken by the ADKR bowlers prevented SW from sustaining momentum. The Warriorz ultimately finished their innings at 194/9, falling 39 runs short of the target. Olly Stone (2/37) and Andre Russell (2/48) were the standout bowlers for the winning Abu Dhabi Knight Riders side.
