Rishabh Pant has made history as the cricket star has overtaken Shubman Gill to become India’s highest run-scorer in the history of the ICC World Test Championship. The wicketkeeper-batter reached the landmark during the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the SSC Stadium.

Unbeaten on 63 at lunch as India progressed to 419 for 6, Pant’s total now stands at 2,948 runs from 42 matches at an average of 42.11. On the other hand, Gill sits second with 2,917 runs, followed by Rohit Sharma (2,716), Ravindra Jadeja (2,675) and Virat Kohli (2,617).

Pant first moved ahead of Gill during the first Test in Galle and has extended the lead with another substantial contribution in Colombo.
