New Zealand announced the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Australia.

Mitchell Santner was named captain of the New Zealand T20I team for Australia series.

Premier pacer Trent Boult is set to make a much-anticipated return to New Zealand's cricket team for the upcoming T20I series against Australia, marking his first appearance since November 2022. The fast bowler has been named in the squad for the series' second and third matches, with considerations for Tim Southee's workload prompting this decision by the Blackcaps' management.

The inclusion of Boult adds significant strength to a robust 14-player lineup, which also welcomes Rachin Ravindra and the uncapped powerful all-rounder, Josh Clarkson. Clarkson's call-up comes in the wake of Kane Williamson's paternity leave and Daryl Mitchell's sidelining due to a foot injury, offering him an opportunity to debut in the T20 format for New Zealand.

The squad will miss the services of Michael Bracewell and Jimmy Neesham, both of whom are currently recuperating from injuries. Under the leadership of Mitchell Santner, the team aims to build on their recent success, mirroring the squad that emerged victorious in a 4-1 series win against Pakistan. This team sees Lockie Ferguson replacing Ben Sears as the only alteration to the lineup.

Australia's names power-packed squad

On the Australian front, a formidable 15-member squad has been announced, featuring the return of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood to the T20 arena. Their comeback is noteworthy, as all three have not participated in the format since their last outing at the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia.

Led by captain Mitchell Marsh, the Australian squad also includes the experienced David Warner, setting the stage for a highly anticipated T20I series showdown between New Zealand and Australia. This series promises to be a captivating display of cricketing prowess from both nations, showcasing some of the most talented players in the sport today.
