WATCH: Sarfaraz Khan's India Test recall draws emotional message from father

In a series of emotional moments, Sarfaraz Khan earned another chance with the Indian Test team. After his call-up for the two-match Sri Lanka Test series as the injured Sai Sudharsan's replacement, Sarfaraz received a tough message from his father, Naushad Khan, who also shared some emotional words for his younger son Musheer Khan.

Big chance for Sarfaraz Khan in Test cricket

It has been a long wait for Sarfaraz to get another call-up for the Indian team. His last outing in the red-ball format came against New Zealand in November 2024, during a forgettable home campaign for the Men in Blue. India lost a home Test series for the first time in 12 years.

However, Sarafaraz Khan has enjoyed a decent time in his Test career so far, amassing a total of 371 runs at an average of 37.1, including one hundred and three half-centuries. He recorded his top score of 150 in Test against New Zealand.

"Bhale nikla hai kai raato ke baad suraj, bhale nikla hai kai raato ke baad, lekin mehnat ko milta hai hamesha kismat ka saath (The sun may have risen after many nights, but destiny favours hard work)," said Naushad.

Sarfaraz has joined the Indian team in Galle as preparations catching pace for the series opener against Sri Lanka on Saturday, August 15. His comeback to the Test setup came after an injury ruled Sudharsan out of the entire two-match assignment, opening the door for Sarfaraz to secure another chance in the red-ball format.

Before this, Sarafaraz enjoyed a decent campaign with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2026, amassing a total of 161 runs in five outings at an average of 32.2 and an aggressive strike rate of 214.67 with the help of a half-century.
