Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan clinched the most wickets in the history of Test cricket. He picked up 800 wickets to reach this milestone. But if we take a look on bowlers who are playing first-class cricket have clinched more than 4000 wickets in their career. England's Wilfred Rodgers has clinched 4204 wickets. There are more than 32 bowlers who have more than  2000 wickets in first-class cricket.

 

Top-10 bowlers who have taken the most wickets in first-class cricket

 

Wilfred Rodgers (England) - 4204 wickets

 

This left-arm spinner has played 1110 first-class matches and taken 4204 wickets. He played cricket between 1898 and 1930. Along with wickets, he also did wonders with the bat and scored 39969 runs. He also played 58 Tests for England and took 127 wickets in them. Rhodes is the only cricketer to take more than 4000 wickets.

 

Tich Freeman (England)- 3776 wickets

 

Freeman of England is second in terms of most wickets in first-class cricket. He played 592 matches and took 3776 wickets. While playing 12 Tests for England, he took 66 wickets.

 

Charlie Parker (England)- 3278 wickets

 

This England cricketer played 635 matches in first class and took 3278 wickets. However, he could play only one Test for England in which he took two wickets.

 

Jack Hearne (England)- 3061 wickets

 

This right-arm fast bowler played 639 first-class matches and took 3061 wickets. He also played 12 Tests and took 49 wickets.

 

Tom Goddard (England)- 2979 wickets

 

This off-spinner took 2979 wickets in 593 first-class matches. He played eight Tests in which he took 22 wickets.

Alex Kennedy (England)- 2874 wickets

 

This right-handed pacer played 677 first-class matches and took 2874 wickets. He played five Tests and dismissed 31 batsmen.

 

Derek Shackleton (England)- 2857 wickets

 

This right-handed pacer played 647 first-class matches and took 2857 wickets. He played seven Tests for England and took 18 wickets.

 

Tony Lock (England)- 2844 wickets

 

The left-handed spin bowler played 654 first-class matches and picked up 2844 wickets. He played 49 Tests between 1952 and 1968 and took 174 wickets.

 

Fred Titmus (England) - 2830 wickets

 

This off-spinner took 2830 wickets in 792 first-class matches. He took 153 wickets in 53 Tests between 1955 and 1975.
